Women Build
Since the first Women Build project in 1991, nearly 1,000 Women Build houses have been constructed in the United States and around the world. Each year, 150 or more Women Build homes are constructed. In 2011, HFH/MJ built its 14th Women Build house in thirteen years. Women Build provides a building project for the women of Jackson that encourages hands on participation in the construction process. But the benefits go beyond those for the volunteers; construction of Habitat homes help hard-working families achieve affordable housing, creating a better environment for their children and improving the inner-city neighborhoods in which the homes are built.
HFH/MJ families have a zero-interest mortgage, and contribute ‘sweat equity’ building their home and the homes of others. Volunteer labor keeps costs low. HFH/MJ makes no-profit.
