Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson (HFH/MJ) is making it cooler than ever to build under the hot summer sun.  OPERATION: SUNSHINE is HFH/MJ's new Summer Volunteer Program.

Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson is Volunteer Driven
Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson (HFH/MJ) houses are built from the ground up with volunteers from our community, who are supervised by HFH/MJ 's construction staff.  Without volunteers, HFH/MJ could not help low income families purchase affordable homes with a no-interest mortgage rate, so every volunteer counts.  No experience is necessary, and individuals or groups are welcome to join the HFH/MJ staff and future HFH/MJ homeowners on Saturdays in building simple, decent homes...because everyone deserves a decent place to live.

We can only build homes for families in need with the help of our Volunteers!
• In 2009, volunteers donated $316,890 worth of time to 33 families in the Metro Jackson community
• Volunteers keep construction costs low, enabling HFH/MJ to sell homes at cost
• Volunteers serve on the build site, in the office, and at special events
• Volunteers join HFH/MJ from all areas of metro Jackson

Please take a moment to fill out our volunteer post build survey.

  The Theology of the Hammer

The concept of the theology of the hammer is that our Christian faith mandates that we do more than just talk about faith...we must put faith and love into action to make them real.  HFH/MJ volunteers build with  low-income families, not for them, building bridges of understanding while eliminating poverty housing.
