What You Need to Know about Habitat Housing:

  • Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization whose purpose is to build and sell decent, affordable housing at no profit and no interest to qualified, low-income families who need better housing.

  • Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson only builds housing in downtown Jackson communities, and once a year in Rankin County.  If you are interested in Habitat housing but live outside of the Jackson area, visit Habitat for Humanity International's website to locate an affiliate near you.

  • Habitat for Humanity builds homes for qualified applicants and sells them to those applicants with a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.

  • Churches, businesses, and individuals donate money, materials, and time to Habitat.  The money provides initial capital.  Donated building supplies are used when possible.  Most labor is done by Habitat families themselves and other volunteers.

  • Habitat Jackson does not do home repairs.  Our construction staff is constantly busy with new builds, so time does not allow our staff to repair damaged homes.
