Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization whose purpose is to build and sell decent affordable housing at no profit and no interest to low-income families who need better housing.

Individuals, churches and businesses donate money, materials and time to Habitat. The money provides initial capital. To keep the cost of the homes affordable, as much volunteer labor and as many donated supplies as possible are used. Families work alongside volunteers, putting in "sweat equity" hours. As they make their house payments, contributions are recycled and used again.
